Biography:

Dr. Perraut has practiced comprehensive Ophthalmology for more than 25 years. He started Blue Ridge Laser Eye Associates in Columbus, North Carolina, in 1983 and joined Carolina Ophthalmology in 2014. He has enjoyed working with his patients in Western North Carolina and the upstate of South Carolina. Concerned about early detection of eye disease and the need for periodic eye exams, he regularly participates in local community awareness programs. Dr. Perraut's primary surgical interest is cataract surgery with special emphasis on the least invasive and most comfortable techniques. He routinely implants the latest technology intraocular lenses that can reduce or eliminate the need for glasses after surgery. Dr. Perraut also offers the iStent to treat patients suffering from mild to moderate glaucoma. Dr. Perraut also offers other comprehensive services such as medical and laser treatment for glaucoma, treatment for dry eyes and eye infections, and diabetic eye care. Optical services are also available at his Columbus location through the Eyelights Optical Shop. Dr. Perraut began his career at Emory University in Atlanta with an undergraduate degree in biology. He received his medical degree from the University of Louisville Medical School in Kentucky. He completed his ophthalmology training at the University of Louisville Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Dr. Perraut is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
