St. Luke's Outpatient Rehab is on the Move!

St. Luke’s Hospital Rehabilitation department provides a wide range of services on both inpatient and outpatient basis. Our fully licensed staff is experienced and energetic. We strive to help clients identify their rehab needs and actively assist them in reaching their maximum level of function. Services are provided in a pleasant, friendly environment that respects the needs of each client as an individual. We offer Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy and Respiratory Therapy.

Physical Therapy
We can treat a wide variety of problems from non-surgical to surgical, including:

  • Joint replacements (hips, knees and shoulders)
  • Neck and back injuries
  • Shoulder problems
  • Muscle sprains and strains
  • Gait and balance safety training to maintain independence
  • Neurological problems such as strokes, Parkinson’s Disease, etc
  • Sports injuries

Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists work with individuals who need specialized assistance to lead independent, productive and satisfying lives. Our focus is on restoring function in activities of daily living. We can treat people who have experienced the following:

  • Broken bones, sports injuries, falls or accidents
  • Strokes and Heart Attacks
  • Arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis or other serious illnesses
  • Amputations or spinal injuries
  • Work-related injuries
  • Dementia or Alzheimer’s

We also assist with one-on-one self-care needs to keep our patients as functional as possible. We teach everyday tasks such as cooking, cleaning and light housekeeping.

Speech Therapy
Our speech therapist provides a wide range of treatment targeting speech, language and swallowing problems including:

  • Swallowing evaluation and treatment—for individuals who get choked or strangled or cough when eating or drinking. Also those who feel food is sticking in the throat or who have trouble chewing foods.
  • Modified Barium Swallow Test—an x-ray that shows the complete swallowing process when given a variety of food and liquid consistencies.
  • Augmentative communication—alternative means of communicating without the use of voice.

Respiratory Therapy
The St. Luke's Hospital Respiratory Therapy department provides invasive and non-invasive treatments of pulmonary disease and distress. We service patients of all ages on both inpatient and outpatient basis. We provide respiratory care for the entire hospital including the Emergency Room, ICU, Geriatric Psychiatry, Restorative Care and the medical floors. We treat a number of diseases and illnesses that compromise the breathing system including:

  • PulmonaryAsthma
  • Bronchitis
  • Cancer
  • COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
  • Drowning
  • Smoke Inhalation
  • Trauma
  • Circulation problems
  • Heart Functions and Rhythms

We can treat such diseases with laboratory and specialized testing including:

  • Holter Monitor - a 24-hour recording device that measures heart rhythms
  • PFT - Pulmonary Function Test to measure the capacities and strength of the lungs
  • Cardiac and Pulmonary Stress Testing - to measure the strength of the heart, determine susceptibility to heart-attack, and to diagnose exercise-induced breathing disorders
  • Nebuliziation Treatments - to treat pneumonia, asthma and bronchitis

Staff
Our staff consists of fully Certified Respiratory Care Practitioners. We offer the versatility and knowledge to provide care for all types of respiratory ailments through all age ranges. Our practitioners often participate in local health fairs fulfilling our commitment to community education and wellness.
