The
St. Luke’s Hospital Geriatric Psychiatry unit is a 10-bed facility
serving adults age 55 and over. We diagnose and treat diseases such as
Alzheimer’s dementia, depression, manic depression, situational
and adjustment problems on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. We
accept self-referrals as well as referrals from physicians, social services,
rest/nursing homes, and hospitals. We have staff available for free in-home
assessments to determine the appropriate level of care.
Evaluation
Our initial work-up and evaluation consists of psychological
tests to determine the specific nature of the problem. A head CT or certain
lab studies may be performed to rule out underlying medical issues.
