The St. Luke’s Hospital Nursing staff is a group of dedicated individuals who are committed to going the extra mile for their patients. Our guests can always expect friendly and caring nurses who will address individual needs and concerns. As a group of highly regarded professionals among colleagues and patients, the nurses of St. Luke’s pride themselves on service excellence. We offer a wide range of service and care to the surrounding community.

Types of Care
We provide nursing care for the following:

  • Surgery—Inpatient and outpatient for general, orthopedic (including hand), ophthalmology and urology.
  • Intensive Care Unit—Step down
  • Medical Surgical Unit—provides care for general medical and post-surgical patients, and occasionally pediatric patients.
  • Psychiatric Unit—for geriatric patients.
  • Emergency Room—we offer prompt service and timely intervention of life-saving techniques when necessary. Our Emergency Nurses work hand-in hand with the Polk County EMS and assist with the helipad when patients are flown in or out of St. Luke’s Hospital.

We also offer the following Nursing Support Services:

  • House Supervisors
  • Nurse Educator
  • Infection Control
  • Case Management
  • Medicare Data Set Coordinator
  • Nurse Managers for each Nursing unit
  • Special Projects and JCAHO Coordinator

Not only is St. Luke’s Hospital a facility that provides exceptional care, it is also a great place to work. With a remarkably low turnover rate of approximately 7%, the nurses of St. Luke’s Hospital are highly committed to their occupation. On staff we have:

  • 100 Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses
  • 50 Certified Nursing Assistants
  • 85 % of the nursing staff are Registered Nurses
  • 50 % of our nurses have been on staff for 5 years or longer
