Mammography Coordinator / Multi-Modality Radiologic Technologist (full-time)
JOB SUMMARY:
Must possess skills and knowledge to competently produce quality screening and diagnostic breast imaging services with proper documentation of mammography record requirements and radiation safety, while maximizing the use of equipment and resources. Must Radiologist in procedures and duties within the department. Interacts in a positive, service-oriented manner with patients, medical staff, peers and other employees, and performs all policy and procedures in the area of assignment.

St. Luke’s Hospital Criteria Based Performance Standards, Hospital Policies, Joint Commission Regulations, and various other laws/regulations require that we assess the ongoing competency of our staff to assure that the staff maintains competency to perform their duties proficiently. Competency evaluation may include tests for knowledge, demonstration of skills and direct observation of performance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of an Associate’s degree. Must be registered by ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) and must be certified in BLS (Basic Life Support). Minimum of three years’ work experience required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Operates imaging equipment to make clinical diagnostic images as directed by Radiologists. Performs routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices under the direction of the Radiology Director and Radiologists ensuring the imaging quality of the mammograms are sufficient and meet ACR standards.

Obtains and examines the order to include patient name, date of birth, requested procedure, clinical information (reason for exam), requesting physician’s signature, date and time of order, and any other special notes or comments.

Provides appropriate and thoughtful patient care with professional interactions with patients and coworkers. Receives patient in a pleasant and efficient manner and thoroughly explains the procedure to be performed to facilitate cooperation and alleviate patient anxiety, including addressing patient’s concern of radiation exposure.

Practices patient safety by performing hand washing or using hand sanitizer before beginning the procedure. Explains to the patient that they are washing their hands for the patient’s safety. Wears appropriate PPE.

Demonstrates an awareness of radiation safety procedures for self and others. Reviews Radiation Protection Plan Policy annually with documentation of signature and date. Documents all fluoroscopy times in EMR and PACS. Understands and performs quality control checks on mammography equipment informs Radiology Director of any issues.

As needed, performs general office duties answering phone, checking in patients, handling call reports and Emergency Room physician disagrees, burning CD’s, etc. Functions as a department receptionist as requested, assist with patient phone calls to answer technical questions.

Restocks and cleans rooms daily.

When requested, is willing to adjust personal schedule to complete workload; make certain that all ordered procedures will be completed even if it involves staying past one’s shift.
