Senior Life Solutions Presents Series "Creative Aging"


St. Luke's Hospital's Senior Life Solutions program presents Creative Aging, a community education series. The program will provide eight weekly sessions on different aspects of aging based on the book Creative Aging by Dr. James A. Greene, Medical Director of the Senior Life Solutions Program. Dr. Greene, a geriatric psychiatrist and a gerontologist, is Board Certified in both neuropsychiatry and family practice.

Dr. Greene will present the first session on The Future of Retirement Living: Strategies for Successful Aging Thursday, Sept. 10, at 2 pm in the St. Luke's Hospital Board Room in Columbus, NC.

Future sessions will be presented by the clinical staff of Senior Life Solutions and will be held in the Senior Life Solutions Office, located on the hospital campus at 48 Hospital Drive. Weekly topics will include how to get a good night's sleep, what to do for the blues, coping after a loved one dies, myths of aging, the role of the family, coping with guilt, and decision making skills.

Senior Life Solutions is an intensive outpatient group counseling program for individuals age 65 and older who are dealing with emotional and/or behavioral issues often related to aging such as the loss of a loved one, stresses of age related health concerns, or diminished self-esteem. The program works to improve emotional stability and increase general functioning as well as help patients identify, develop and increase the use of effective coping skills.
