St. Luke's Hospital Hosts Community Blood Drive, April 28

COLUMBUS, NC - The Blood Connection blood mobile will be on site at St. Luke's Hospital for a Community Blood Drive on Thursday, April 28, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. This blood drive commemorates National Donate Life Month (April).

"St. Luke's receives all of its blood and blood products from The Blood Connection, so it's an important relationship to us," Kathy Woodham, Marketing and Public Relations Director at St. Luke's Hospital, said. "You'll be making your donation on the blood mobile, but it's not really going anywhere. If you donate here, you could save a life here."

Donors will receive a free t-shirt, along with a $10.00 Walmart gift card. In addition, The Blood Connection (TBC) grants reward points that can be cashed in for prizes such as gift cards on its website.

"We are always in need of O Negative blood types because it's the universal donor," Tonya Cochran, North Carolina Territory Representative for The Blood Connection, said. "The need for blood is constant and ongoing, but each time you donate blood you can save the lives of three people."

The Blood Connection's mobile unit will be located in the parking lot near St. Luke's Rehabilitation Services. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, contact The Blood Connection at 828-233-5302 or visit www.thebloodconnection.org.
