The St. Luke’s ED staff is also trained and ready for pediatric patients with their pediatric crash cart. The color-coded system for the emergency care of children supplies St. Luke’s Hospital ED staff with all the information and equipment needed for young patients' emergency resuscitation requirements, all contained in a color-coded, easy-to-use kit. The pediatric crash cart is divided into age-specific drawers. Each drawer is delineated by a different color, and each contains essential equipment such as IV tubing, needles and oxygen masks to accommodate specific weights and sizes of young patients.

For cardiac emergencies and closed head traumas, St. Luke’s Emergency staff quickly stabilizes these critical patients for helicopter transport to a neighboring tertiary care center. It’s comforting to know immediate emergency care and access to specialized care is available 24/7.
